Hi Paul,
As one of the organizers of OSCOM 3 at Harvard Law School Berkman Center
for Internet and Society this spring, I am quite familiar with the
arguments for open source.
Perhaps. But what have you actually learned from such arguments? As one of the organizers of OSCOM 3 at Harvard Law School Berkman Center

You will see that all the major OS CMS are represented in the CMSML
(http://www.cmsml.org) database at CMS Review.
See http://www.cmsreview.com/OpenSource/Directory.html
In addition, as you might know, the OS community already has a great forum
going at CMS Info (http://www.cmsinfo.org).
Yes, CMSinfor.org is informative, but it is hardly the only web(http://www.cmsml.org) database at CMS Review.

forum devoted to OS CMS. See below.
So thanks for your well-intentioned (if "half-assed") criticism.
Shall we start an Open-Source Forum Topic?
It would be a good idea.Shall we start an Open-Source Forum Topic?
Will you contribute to it?
Nope. If you are going to make proprietary CMS's the focus ofcms-forum.org, then I shall have nothing to do with it. I shall prefer to
spend my time on, for example, OpenSourceCMS.com, http://blog.oscom.org,
http://radio.weblogs.com/0116506/ (Paul Everitt's blog),
http://www.commonsgroup.com/, http://www.boomtchak.net/, or the like.
How many victories must open source software (OSS) win before
Lovers of Proprietary Software (LPS) wake up and discover that their
favorite vendors are doomed? Sun MicroSystems has had 10 consecutive
quarters of losses -- and they are currently working on their eleventh.
Furthermore, any white-box, x86 computer maker can tell you that, at
current rates, most of the servers (not desktops) that they ship in 2007
will be installed with either Linux, FreeBSD, or OpenBSD. By the end of
2007, very few new servers will be shipping with a proprietary operating
system. The LPS's astonish me.
Am I the only person on this list with a Slashdot user ID below
50,000?
IMO, this is half-assed backwards. You ought to start with the
major *open source* (OS) CMS's because OS always _eventually_ prevails
over proprietary software. The most promising of the OS CMS's are Plone,
OpenCMS, and Bricolage. Covering proprietary software is a mistake
because many forms of such software are doomed -- OS will destroy them.
